Tree work in Warners Bay

Creek flats at the head of the bay

The SES says North Creek, which drains into Lake Macquarie at Warners Bay, has flooded roads and homes in big events, including June 1949. Trees on low, wet ground near the creek tend to have shallow roots and soft footing.

Up the hill the blocks drain better, and the work is more often pruning: limbs off roofs, and trees that have outgrown the yard.

Warners Bay questions

Poisoning on the foreshore

Why were foreshore trees poisoned?

Lake Macquarie council reported a deliberate poisoning attack on trees along the Warners Bay foreshore, followed by eucalypts and a casuarina on the shared path. Those are public trees, and council deals with them.

How busy does the foreshore get?

Council says it can see more than a thousand visitors every day, and its master plan added benches and new trees. Private work nearby is planned around that foot traffic.

What did the May storm bring down?

In the Lake Macquarie windstorm of late May 2022, the SES said most calls were for trees on roads and trees on houses. Big trees near the house are the ones to look at before winter.
